Caryl Doty opened the Okotoks location of Foxtrail Farms in 2002, while her mother, Millie Semmelroth continued the booming business in Southern California. Foxtrail Farms Canada grew into a competitive Hunter/Jumper barn.

The Canadian location is thriving, and is thrilled at the progress their students have made. Claire Doty, daughter of Caryl, has followed in the family footsteps and is showing successfully at the Grand Prix level on a number of imported and homebred horses.

Caryl Semmelroth Doty

English Equitation and Hunter/Jumper

Caryl began riding as an infant, as her parents owned a breeding and training program. As an amateur rider, she was a consistent top finisher in the  Southern California circuit. She was also a top competitor in Three Day eventing.

In the 1980’s, Caryl taught in the Mammoth Lakes/Bishop, California area at Flying H stables (now Millpond Equestrian) for three years, heading their hunter/jumper program. She then returned to the Southern California area and taught in the Rolling Hills Estates area, eventually joining Millie Semmelroth and teaching for over 15 years at Foxtrail Farms, located at the Rolling Hills Estates Equestrian Center.

In 2003 Caryl, her husband Tim Doty, and their daughter Claire moved to the Okotoks, Alberta, Canada area to establish a new branch of Foxtrail Farms, now known as Foxtrail
Farms North.

Caryl prides herself on making successful matches of horse and rider. She has a proven track record of taking riders from their first lesson into the Grand Prix Arena.
